Batch Summarization Data Hammer also provides a Batch Summarization feature, allowing you to summarize entire folders of files using one command. There are two ways to start a Batch Summarize. Data Hammer's batch feature is robust -- allowing you to summarize anything from just a few files to several thousand. Either Choose Batch Summarize... from the File menu, or drag a folder to the Data Hammer application in the Finder. The Batch Options window will popup.
Note: This is the Batch Preferences window, which you can bring up by choosing Batch Preferences... from the File menu. The Batch Options window looks just like this -- it just comes up before a batch to make sure that all the options just how you want them. Similar to the General Preferences window, you can choose whether or not your summary will have Keywords, Paragraphs or both. In addition, when Data Hammer summarizes a file, you can choose whether to modify the existing file (overwriting what was there) or to make a new file while adding an extension to the file name. Choose Save files as HTML to save the summarized files in HTML viewable in a web browser. Finally, since batches can take a long time, you can choose how much computing power you'd like Data Hammer to use while executing the batch operation by moving the Processor Utilization slider. After clicking the Save button to start the batch, the Batch Window will appear. Data Hammer will chug away, summarizing file after file while you do other work. To Stop the batch, click the Stop button. Errors that occur during the process will appear in the Error pane in the bottom half of the window. Once the batch is finished, just click the Done button.
